we used them for years, but if you have bigger sows it can be kinda tight in there. I would recommend the 6x8 with oak cross divider for the pig creep area

Just bought some Nest boxes from natural farrowing systems. They worked great. Just farrowed last week. It's was cold and we had no losses from the cold. They did take a lot of work to build though.

I have around six hundred each in mine. Thought they were kind of pricey. The size is 5.5 ft by 9 ft long. I built the plywood ones with the kit, but you also can get the plastic ones. Mine are in the barn and have a roof made of insulation. Do not think they were designed to be outdoors.

I'm using Cargill huts, liking them so far. I'll try to post some pictures.

I've always liked the red and black spotted pigs. It looks like you have Berk sows. Are they crossed with Hereford, Tamworth, or Duroc, or a combination? I like the looks of your huts too.

We have mostly registered Berks, those are out of my daughters gilt that's a Duroc cross, with berk boar. They came out pretty good, she should be able to make some money on them.

We have a neighbor who pasture farrows close to 600 sows, who builds this kind out of treated plywood and love them. There isn't much waste, I think 4 sheets of plywood in each. They make 40 or 50 every winter, so they must last 10-12 years.

GangGreen,
Curious where your neighbor markets fat hogs. Is it a Niman Ranch operation?
Also, how's the smell around the place?
Thanks much.

Yes, I think they work with Niman Ranch.
