Hello Everyone,This week was particularly interesting as I learned something so creative and technically rich I wanted to share with everyone.Command Pattern, more importantly, the way we use in games. I have been working on a tactical turn based action game. Now, in these games, we give lot of input, but we also get an option to undo it, well how do we do it?We use Command Pattern for this, we store all the commands in a stack, so that we can retrieve the latest change and play it back. Also, at the end of the game, we can transfer this stack into a new stack, to replay the whole game from the start!!That's the most awesome thing I have worked so far! Thanks to Outscal team, Mayank Grover, Malhar Devasthali, Mridul Agrawal#unity #commandPatter #replay

Friends don't let their friends use client-authoritative code to change the health of characters in a competitive multiplayer game.No matter how "secure" somebody thinks their client-authoritative code is, it isn't.Be a friend:Critical code -> always server-authoritative.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>P.S: I post about Game Development 5x/week.Follow me for more insights🔔And check the comments for more tips!#JustDevIt #gamedevelopment#multiplayer #netcode #cheating

    Super High Dunk "the game" / 3D Modeler/ 2D Video Game Designer/ NFTs/ superhighdunk.com

Things are getting a little tricky in game developement for me. Let me explain!!!A while ago, I posted my #superhighdunk games (Christmas stage) on Twitter and everyone loved it! 147K impressions, (34k views), over 800 likes, many retweets and many comments, even from a few celebs, but the bad thing is, they all loved it so well, I didn't get any negative or constructive criticism either! There is no such thing as a perfect game, and even though no one wants to hear the hard truth, I needed the constructive feedback, but I didn't get it! I did however watch people playing it and did see what they enjoyed more than others, but I was expecting people to get upset when they died in the game. Turns out, kids loved dying in it, so I have an idea of what to do about that! I am writing this because I really want to grow! I know I have a great game on my hands, but Its a bitter sweet, because I deeply appreciate all the love coming my way, but I am not perfect and sometimes as an "indie dev" we have no one around to get opinions to help us! But either way, I'm still going to create whats in my heart and let it flow! I'm not asking for ideas, because I have a ton, but if you have seen my game and have anything constructive to add, I'm all ears! On the other hand, if it aint broken, maybe I shouldn't fix it and continue on my path!

Finally learning to own my title as CEO and letting go of the imposter syndrome - Growing brands and startups - that's who I am

I find it shocking that people find what they said shocking or "speaks out"... I think companies today have lost their way a bit and so have a fair few leaders... ultimately yes companies and CEOs are unfortunately answerable to shareholders but I won't forget what Craig Fletcher once said to me... an investor is someone you are with for a long time, sometimes longer than a lot of marriages make sure you pick the right person... and that is something I hold as a principle. I am not in business to make money... I am here creating projects and companies to solve problems... ultimately that's why businesses are born (or supposed to be) to create a solution or to make something better... of course the idea is to be profitable to grow said company and fulfil purpose and if I make money in the process then that's great because I need to survive and I'd like a bit of comfort but money is not my sole aim... my community and my projects serve a purpose that is far greater than money... and that is what every company should have... shareholders that align with their mission and a mission that goes beyond "making money"... we spend so much of our lives working (roughly 55% or more of our waking hours) so it ought to be obvious to make it worthwhile and purposeful because money is not the biggest impact we leave behind#justsaying

In the world of video games, the term 'multiplayer' can be a tad confusing 😵For us, it's about developing all elements of a video game that is designed to be played by lots of people, at the same time. Not just the backend services, we're talking art, design, combat, physics, AI, QA - the lot.We can develop your game from concept to launch, and we'll have a lot of fun doing it!If you need a team you can rely on to nail your next Multiplayer project, let's chat: mpg.io/contactp.s. we're pretty good at single-player games too, but we'll save that for a different post 😉#WeAreMultiplayer #CoDev #FullDev #VideoGames

Games are products, too. Games with no audience don't get played. Games that aren't interesting can't be sold. What about the product design discipline informs games? All of it.People don't think about games as products, because most of us were fans first. I guarantee game publishers think about games as products, fans or not. Here's where it gets interesting.Learn more in the PlayArchitect Games (that's my game publishing outfit) newsletter where we talk about all kinds of great gaming goodies:https://lnkd.in/dWcUYMqF

The best code? The one that isn't written. 👇People underestimate the trouble of maintaining code, especially in complex applications like multiplayer games:Tech debt piles up fast.Even faster if you overcomplicate your code base for the sake of "generalizing for future cases, or following pattern x/y/z because some tech guy on the internet said it's better".Unless you're 200% sure you'll need something in the near future, don't waste time implementing it.You'll find a way to add things if a real need arises.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>P.S: I post about Game Development 5x/week.Follow me for more insights🔔#JustDevIt #gamedevelopment #multiplayer #softwareengineering
