Recently, I found this quote:
I don’t want to get to the end of my life and find that I have just lived the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well. –Diane Ackerman
It’s a beautiful quote and challenging; it makes me want to be a more hospitable person.
So many ways to connect with others
Think of one long table, as wide as can be, full of people to feed and connect with. How wonderful is that?
I know I’m an extrovert, so that sounds like heaven.
There are so many wonderful ways to show love!
Even if you’re an introvert, hospitality doesn’t have to be daunting or unattainable.
Think small, and invite a few people over for a Seared Ahi Tuna Nicoise Salad!
Ingredients for Ahi Tuna Nicoise Salad
- Ahi tuna steak
- Sesame oil and sesame seeds
- Salt & pepper
- Blanched green beans
- Fresh corn
- Mini mozzarella balls & cherry tomatoes
- Toasted slivered almonds
- Kalamata olives
- Chopped spinach
- Radishes
- Chopped basil to garnish
How to cook the ahi tuna steak
- Wash your tuna steak under cold water, then dry it thoroughly with paper towels.
- Mix together sesame seeds and pepper. Salt both sides of your steak, then dip into the sesame seeds—nestle the steak into the seasoning, making sure all sides are covered, including the outside edges.
- Heat the sesame oil in a nonstick pan. When oil is hot, lay the steak in and sear for 2 minutes on each side. Use tongs to sear the edges of the steak, too (but only for 30 seconds).
- Allow to cool slightly, then, cutting against the grain, slice tuna into 1/2 inch thick strips.
No regrets!
It is admirable to have lived a long life, but some people look back with regrets on what they didn’t get to do.
Do you wish you would have connected more with people?
